Stop guessing and start tuning with precision. The TAMA TW100 Tension Watch is a professional analog dial gauge that measures the actual physical tension of your drumhead — not the torque on the tuning bolt. Unlike standard drum keys, the TW100 is completely unaffected by dirty or rusted lug threads, delivering accurate, repeatable readings at every lug point. Whether you're changing heads mid-gig or locking in your perfect studio sound, the TW100 eliminates overtones and guesswork for good.

Description

TAMA TW100 Tension Watch

Direct Tension Measurement — reads true drumhead surface tension via plunger displacement, not bolt resistance, for genuine tuning accuracy
Easy-to-Read Analog Dial — high-contrast 0–100 scale with a precision needle pointer; note your sweet-spot numbers and replicate them instantly every time
Lug-to-Lug Consistency — match tension evenly across all lug points to eliminate overtones and lock in a balanced, resonant tone
Saves Time on Head Changes — what used to take 20+ minutes now takes under 2; ideal for live gigs and busy studio sessions
Heavy-Duty Metal Construction — solid weighted metal base with a protective outer rim for reliable, long-lasting field use
Complete Package — includes a protective storage case and a TAMA sample tuning chart insert for quick reference
How to Use
Calibrate First — Place the TW100 vertically on a flat, hard surface (glass or mirror). Align the needle to zero before every use.
Prepare the Drum — Mount the head, hand-tighten all lugs evenly to a loose baseline pitch, and rest the drum flat.
Position Correctly — Place the gauge approximately ¾" (2 cm) from the rim, directly in front of each tension rod.
Measure & Adjust — Read the dial at each lug. Tighten if the reading is low; loosen if it's high. Match all lugs to the same number.
Record Your Numbers — Once the drum sounds perfect, write down the reading (e.g., Snare = 85, Tom = 75). Tune back to these exact numbers next time in under 2 minutes.
